GP Y master swim team excels in Scranton

The GP YMCA Master Swim Team competed in its first invitational swim meet October 25, placing third in the combined team scores at the Greater Scranton YMCA 2009 Masters BOO Meet. Master swimming is comprised of men and women ages 18 to 90.

Matt Fino placed first in his age group in the Men 50 Yard Backstroke, 50 Yard Freestyle, 50 Yard Butterfly and the 100 Yard Individual Medley and second in the 100 Yard Freestyle.

Jim McGovern placed first in his age group in the Men 50 Yard Freestyle, 50 Yard Butterfly and third in the 100 Yard Freestyle. The Y’s own Kelly O’Hop (age group assistant swim coach, instructor and lifeguard) placed first in her age group in the Women 50 Yard Stroke, 50 Yard Freestyle, 50 Yard Butterfly, 50 Yard Breaststroke and the 100 Yard Individual Medley.

Judy Rostkowski, aquatics director, placed first in her age group in the Women 100 Yard Butterfly, 200 Yard Individual Medley, 50 Yard Breast Stroke and the 100 Yard Individual Medley. The four swimmers also placed third in the Mixed 18+ Age 200 Yard Free Relay and fourth in the 18+ Age 200 Yard Medley Relay.
