Y offering AAU hoops

The Greater Pittston YMCA will sponsor AAU Travel Hoops this year on Saturdays and Sundays from the end of March through May. The spring travel season begins as soon as school ball is over and the teams are selected. Tournaments are played on Saturdays and Sundays from the end of March to the end of May with 3 to 4 games per weekend. Practices will be held twice per week on the week of tournaments and once per week on the off-weeks, plus an extra Sweat Shop session once per week.

The age groups and tryout dates are as follows at GPYMCA:

Boys 4th grade (10U) and 5th grade (11U) – Wednesday, March 10 at 6 p.m.

Boys 6th & 7th Grade (12U) (13U) – Wednesday, March 10 at 7:30 p.m.

Girls 4th grade (10U) and 5th grade (11U) – Thursday, March 11 at 6 p.m.

Girls 6th & 7th Grade (12U) (13U) – Thursday, March 11 at 7:30 p.m.

If you are a baseball or softball player, the GPYMCA will guarantee you that the travel team will not interfere with your in-season sport. The tournaments will all be local from Scranton to Wilkes-Barre, with one over-night trip. Please contact Athletic Director, Michael Riddle at 655-BALL (2255) ext. 104 for more details.
