Dom Avvisato

OF Basketball

His team didn’t win its game against Holy Cross, but Old Forge center Dom Avvisato did everything he could to make sure the Blue Devils had a chance to win. And he made some history in the process.

Avvisato scored every Old Forge field goal in a 41-28 loss to the Crusaders on Tuesday during the week of Jan. 17-23 on his way to a game-high 21 points. For his effort, Avvisato has earned the Old Forge Athlete of the Week for the second time this year.

The 6-foot-2 junior made 10-of-13 shots from the field and was 1-for-2 from the line in scoring 75 percent of the Blue Devils points that night. It is believed he is the only player in school history to score every field goal for his team in a single game.

Posters of Dom can be seen at Revello’s Pizza in Old Forge, and Smart Designs and Graphics in Wyoming, sponsors of the Old Forge Athlete of the Week.
