The Old Forge Freshman Football team won its third consecutive Lackawanna League Division III title with a dominating 28-0 win over Mid Valley at Veterans Memorial Stadium on Thursday.

The Blue Devils used the big play in their showdown with the Spartans as Old Forge scored three of its four touchdowns on plays of 40 yards or more.
Tailback Lou Febbo got the Blue Devils on the board in the second quarter on a 44-yard romp to the endzone to put Old Forge (6-2 overall, 6-0 division) ahead 6-0. Quarterback Colin Carey then hit Mike Vieira for the two-point conversion, and the Blue Devils led 8-0.
One possession later, Carey found David Argust alone in the endzone on a 20-yard touchdown pass to give Old Forge a 14-0 lead.
The Blue Devils defense not only kept Mid Valley out of the endzone, but the Spartans – who were also unbeaten in the division coming into the game - never moved the ball past the Old Forge 40-yards line.
Ryan Cadwalder got into the big-play act in the third quarter as he ripped off a 60-yard run on a end around to put the Blue Devils ahead 20-0. Febbo ran in the two-point conversion for the 22-0 lead.
Carey put the finishing touches on the victory with a 55-yard touchdown run in which the Blue Devils QB broke three crushing hits before racing down the visiting sideline for the 28-0 lead.
Old Forge will wrap up its season on Saturday with a non-conference game against Northwest at Veterans Memorial Stadium at 5 p.m. The Rangers only loss of the season came to Abington Heights in Week 1.
