Carmella Gubbiotti Tomato Festival Queen

Festival concludes tonight, Little Miss, Mr. contest today

Carmella Gubbiotti was crowned Pittston Tomato Festival Queen Saturday afternoon and will reign over today’s closing events at the 2009 festival.

Maria Rose LoBrutto, 2008 Queen, crowned Miss Gubbiotti following the pageant in which seven young ladies competed for the title. First runner-up was Krista Paluski.

Today’s activity gets underway at 11 a.m. with the Little Miss and Little Mr. Tomato contest. Entertainment continues with dancers from the David Blight School, polka music by Stanky and the Coal Miners, the Hi-Lites, The Poets, and finally Hyde Park, performing from 8 to 10 p.m.

Saturday featured the 5k run, parade and popular Tomato Fights, along with the queen scholarship pageant.
