There’s a first for everything and the 5th annual Clarks Summit Festival of Ice is the first for many things. Introducing the Festival this year will be a parade to through downtown Clarks Summit on Thursday, Feb. 12, beginning at 7 p.m., featuring a number of local community groups and performers.
Highlights will include a live ice carving by Sculpted Ice Works, Society for Creative Anachronism Middle Age re-enactors on horseback, Juggler Rob Smith, local marching bands and fire companies.
The parade will be immediately followed by a Family Fun Faire at the Clarks Summit Borough Building from 7 to 9 p.m. The Faire will include the coronation of winners of the first annual Festival Ice Prince and Princess contest, children’s crafts, a storytelling session by Chris Arcangelo and performances by the Whipple Dance Studio, Abington Youth Theatre Company and DJ Frankie Carll.
From Thursday evening through Monday, the Borough Building will also house the Camelot Caf�, featuring food and refreshments available for sale by the Lions Club of the Abingtons, Girls Scouts in the Heart of PA, Clarks Summit Borough, and Creative Cakes.
On Saturday, Feb. 14, horse and carriage rides will be available for a donation to the Pocono Equestrian Center from 2 to 8 p.m. starting at the Borough Building.
Ice Wine tastings will be offered at the Wine and Spirits SuperStore in Chinchilla Thursday and Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, from 2 to 4 p.m.
Festival of Ice merchandise will be available for sale for the first time, including blue hats and scarves featuring the Festival of Ice logo, children’s “Cool Kid” T-shirts and even gear for pets- “Cool Dog” bandanas.

If you are participating in the parade, lineup time is 6:15 p.m. at the Clarks Summit Elementary High School Parking Lot, W. Grove Street, Clarks Summit.
Parade Lineup:6:15 p.m.
Parade Start Time:6:45 to 7 p.m.
Parade Route:Down West Grove Street, left on to State Street, left on to Winola Road, left on to Depot Street and will disband at Fire House
