On Monday, April 20, Liz Ratchford and the Factoryville Shade Tree Commission, with the help of students from Lackawanna Trail High School, planted four trees in the borough.
Students Vic Rosa, Isaac Barbolish, Dalton Mecke, Blake Glockley, Matt Goodrich, Zack Goodrich and Anthony Urban, along with Lackawanna Trail High School Principal John Rushefski and Assistant Principal Tania Skotleski, helped Ratchford and Factoryville Councilwoman Genevieve Evans plant two trees near Ray’s Shursave Supermarket on College Avenue and two trees near the Clinton Township – Factoryville Borough Joint Municipal Park on Creek Road.
On Saturday, April 25, the Shade Tree Commissions of Clarks Summit and Clarks Green will join forces to plant two Bloodgood London Planetrees, a type of sycamore, in Hemlock Park.
The planting starts at 10 a.m. and will start with a ceremony dedicating one tree to Charlie Busalacchi, former chairman of the Clarks Summit Shade Tree Commission, who passed away on Oct. 13, as well as his wife, Kathleen, who passed away on Oct. 11.
