Cocktails for a Cause will be held Saturday, Oct. 3, from 7 to 10 p.m., at Jhon’s Place, 112 S. Main St., Old Forge.
Cost is $40 and includes samplings from the area’s finest restaurants, an open bar with martinis from New York City, Miami and Boston and entertainment by area singer/songwriter Tom Graham. Proceeds benefit Research to Prevent Blindness, the leading supporter of eye research directed at the prevention, treatment and eradication of diseases that threaten vision, and the Lackawanna Branch of the Pennsylvania Association for the Blind.
Organized by Dr. Rebecca Schoonover of Schoonover Eye Care P.C., Peckville, this is the fifth annual event for the fundraiser that supports blindness research and honors her late friend and colleague, optometrist Dr. Heather Baker Romano.
Tickets will be sold at the door or may be purchased in advance by calling 489-8733. Donations are also being accepted online at www.icare4eyes.com. For more information and sponsorship opportunities, call Dr. Schoonover at 489-8733.
