WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Sen. Arlen Specter, R-Philadelphia, a senior member of the Homeland Security Appropriations Subcommittee, announced that the Department of Homeland Security has approved funding for several fire companies in Northeast Pennsylvania.
The funding is contained in Rounds 27 and 28 for the competitive Fiscal Year 2008 Fire Grants Award announcements.
Funding has been approved for the following companies in Lackawanna, Luzerne and Wyoming counties:
$237,500 for Excelsior Hose Company No. 1 in Lackawanna County; $237,500 for Spring Brook Volunteer Fire Company Inc. in Lackawanna County; $94,810 for Hazle Township Volunteer Fire & Rescue Co. in Luzerne County; $78,802 for Nicholson Fire Co. in Wyoming County; $71,820 for Hunlock Creek in Luzerne County; $58,666 for Mocanaqua Volunteer Fire Company No. 1 in Luzerne County; $40,755 for Newport Township Consolidated Fire Company in Luzerne County.
