CLARKS SUMMIT – Lackawanna County District Attorney Andy Jarbola and attorney Jack Brier will host a reception honoring Wyoming County District Attorney George Skumanick from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Ramada Inn, Route 6, Clarks Summit.

Cost is $100 per person. Event is sponsored by the Friends of Skumanick Committee.

SCRANTON – The Northeast Detachment of the Marine Corps League will hold a pig roast Saturday. Activities include bocce ball and horse shoes. Competition begins at 11 a.m. with dinner at 4 p.m.

SCRANTON – Wedding Day Magazine in conjunction with the Scranton Club will present an evening of dinner theater on Friday featuring A.R. Gurney’s play “Love Letter,” starring John and Maureen Hart.

Cash bar is at 5:30 p.m. followed by dinner at 6:30. The show begins at 8. Cost is $35 for dinner and show and $30 for club members. For tickets, call June Winicki at 344-8671. All proceeds benefit the Scranton Club’s Restoration Fund.

SCRANTON – Doug Miller and Lee Morgan, Republican candidates for Scranton City Council, will hold a rally from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at Keyser Valley Community Center, 101 N. Keyser Ave., Scranton. Tickets are $15 and are available at the door.

SCRANTON – “Celebrating Sister Adrian: A Lifetime of Love” will be held 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Scranton Cultural Center.

Sister Adrian Barrett, a Dunmore native and founder of Friends of the Poor, is being honored for her 40 years of dedicated service to the underprivileged and senior citizens in Lackawanna County. This year marks her 60th year as a sister of the Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

She was the subject of a PBS documentary, “Sister Adrian Barrett – Mother Teresa of Scranton,” narrated by Martin Sheen. Tickets are free and may be obtained at the box office (888) 669-8966.
