Timothy Briggs, interim director of public safety at the University of Scranton congratulates Jessica A. Williams for being one of three people nationwide to receive a scholarship from the International Association of Chiefs of Police. The award recognizes academic ability, leadership and dedication to campus safety. Williams has been employed by the university’s public safety department since joining the student officer program during her freshman year. As a sergeant in the student officer division, her responsibilities include daily patrol of campus, the student escort service, and working in conjunction with the Scranton police department to investigate minor student complaints. Williams, a senior majoring in criminal justice with a minor in sociology, serves as vice president of the Criminal Justice Club and is a member of the varsity softball team. Williams, from Loganville, Ga., also volunteers for the Feeding the Homeless program in George.
