Recently, my wife received a statement from her insurance company that showed what the bill was for CAT scan services and what it paid, which was acceptable by the health provider.If my wife didn’t have health care coverage, the bill she was requested to pay was for $7,000. However, the health care provider accepted $900 as full payment from the insurance company. My question: Why the $6,100 difference?

Duryea police investigate report of shooting of cat

DURYEA — Chief Nick Lohman and Duryea police are investigating a report that sometime between Aug. 9 and Aug. 11, a house cat from the 200 block of Marcy Street was shot while it was out for a walk.The cat was shot in the back of the leg with an unknown firearm.The cat survived the incident following major surgery.Police are asking anyone who has information about the incident to contact the Duryea Police Department at 570-457-1721 extension 2.
