Facing more injuries and a weeklong road trip, the Pittsburgh Penguins dipped down into Wilkes-Barre/Scranton again, recalling forward Ryan Stone and defenseman Ryan Lannon on Monday.
It’s the first NHL call-up for either player, both of whom are in their third season with the organization.
Stone has scored 19 points (seven goals, 12 assists) in 34 games. Lannon has nine points in 35 games.
Wilkes-Barre/Scranton recalled forward Joe Jensen from ECHL Wheeling to replace Stone on the roster.
Pittsburgh has been depleted by recent long-term injuries to winger Gary Roberts and defenseman Mark Eaton, and the start of a road trip in Florida tonight prompted the moves.
With the promotion of Lannon and Stone, six players who began the season with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton are now on Pittsburgh’s roster, including forwards Tyler Kennedy and Jeff Taffe, defenseman Kris Letang and starting goaltender Ty Conklin.
The AHL Penguins return to the ice at 7:05 p.m. Wednesday when they host Lake Erie.
