DURHAM, N.C. — Scranton/Wilkes-Barre battled all the way to the end on Wednesday afternoon, but fell just short in the finale of its road trip, 4-3, to Durham at Durham Bulls Athletic Park.

Trailing by three with one out in the ninth, the RailRiders made the game interesting with four straight hits off Bulls closer Dylan Floro with the last being a two-run single by Jonathan Diaz that was drilled off the glove of third baseman Juniel Querecuto to cut the deficit to one. However, Floro rebounded by retiring Ben Gamel on a fly to left and Aaron Judge on a swinging strikeout to record his fourth save.

SWB tied the game at 1-1 in the second inning on a bases-loaded walk by Diaz scoring catcher Kyle Higashioka.

The Bulls added single runs in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings capped by a solo shot from J.P. Arencibia in the seventh.

The RailRiders’ Chad Green (4-4) took the loss despite a sixth straight quality start. Green, who had won each of his prior four starts, lasted six innings allowing just two earned runs on six hits. Durham starter Jaime Schultz (4-2) earned the win, overcoming a season-high five walks.

The RailRiders return home for an eight-game homestand on Thursday starting with the first of four against Columbus at 6:35 p.m. Lefty Tyler Webb (1-0, 1.59) gets the start for SWB, while righty Cody Anderson (0-0, 3.72) goes for the Clippers.
