Tunkhannock wrestling earns upset of Hazleton Area

Tunkhannock’s John Walsh came through with an overtime victory at 285 pounds toward the end of Thursday’s dual to help push the Tigers to a 34-30 upset of Hazleton Area.

Tommy Traver (132) and Chris Franko (160) picked up pins for the Tigers while Jimmy Hoffman (138) and Jayson Brielmeier (145) won by fall for the Cougars.

Meyers 37, Berwick 35

The Mohawks narrowly avoided an upset as Lucas Borum, Kevin Huertero and Jeremy Bergold earned pins to hold off the Bulldogs.

Berwick racked up some bonus points with pins from Travis Dent, Alec Talanca, Matt Maczuga and Nick Yule.

Hanover Area 72,

Nanticoke 6

The Hawkeyes won six bouts by fall courtesy of Tom Mercadante, Nick Hannon, Joe Rawley, Josselin Meyer and D.J. Erickson.

Collin Kashatus picked up a pin for the Trojans’ lone win.

Williamsport 53,

Valley West 24

Justin Hargrave led the Spartans with a pin in the loss to the Millionaires. David Krokowski added a technical fall.
