Bloomsburg stumbles in overtime STATE ROUNDUP

BLOOMSBURG—Jeremy Ditzler kicked a 31-yard field goal in overtime as Gannon knocked off Bloomsburg, 10-7 in a PSAC game.

The Gannon defense recovered a fumble on Bloomsburg’s first drive in the extra period then picked up the field goal for the win.

The loss dropped the Huskies to 8-3 on the season and severely hurts the team’s chances to gain an NCAA playoff bid.

Bloomsburg was led statistically by quarterback Dan Latorre who was 9-16 for 105 yards and one score, while Thomas McFarland had a team-high 10 tackles. Derrick Price paced the Huskies’ rushing attack with 74 yards on 17 carries.

East Stroudsburg 54, Slippery Rock 28

EAST STROUDSBURG – East Stroudsburg scored on three of its first five offensive plays, the defense returned three interceptions for touchdowns and redshirt sophomore cornerback Shawnte Carroll set a school record with four interceptions, including two for scores, as the Warriors beat Slippery Rock to moved closer to securing an NCAA Division II playoff berth.

ESU (8-3) was ranked No. 6 in the NCAA Division II Super Regional One entering the day which saw No. 4 Bentley fall, 23-21 at Stonehill and No. 5 Bloomsburg suffer its third straight loss.

Monmouth 24, St. Francis 10

LORETTO — Kyle Frazier threw two touchdown passes and David Sinisi rushed for a touchdown and caught another, leading Monmouth (N.J.) to the win.

Frazier was 17-for-21 with 128 yards for the Hawks (5-4, 4-2 Northeast Conference), and Sinisi rushed for 168 yards on 27 carries. He also caught four balls for 11 yards.

Lafayette 56, Colgate 49

EASTON — Rob Curley threw for 373 yards and a school-record seven touchdown passes to lead Lafayette to the victory.

Every one of Lafayette’s touchdowns came on scoring passes from Curley, a senior who was 18-for-31 and set a career high for passing yards in a game.

He outdueled Colgate running back Nate Eachus, a Hazleton Area grad, who rushed for 216 yards and five touchdowns on 45 carries.

Holy Cross 24, Lehigh 20

BETHLEHEM — Dominic Randolph threw a 4-yard touchdown pass to Freddie Santana with 1:03 remaining to seal Holy Cross’ comeback win.

The pair’s second TD connection in the contest — they also got together on a 10-yard pass for a 17-10 Holy Cross (8-1, 4-0 Patriot League) lead midway through the third — capped the game-winning, 81-yard drive.

Fordham 21, Bucknell 7

BRONX, N.Y. – John Skelton threw for 305 yards and a touchdown in the fourth quarter as Fordham scored 14 points in the fourth quarter to pull out the victory.

Jason Caldwell caught 12 passes for 135 yards for the Rams.

Ryan Smith led the Bison with 70 yards on 15 carries as they opened a 7-0 lead in the first quarter but were held scoreless the rest of the game.

Villanova 21, Richmond 20

RICHMOND, Va. — Brandyn Harvey made a one-handed grab of Chris Whitney’s fourth-down pass for a 29-yard touchdown with 59 seconds left and Villanova stunned Richmond.

The Wildcats (8-1, 5-1 Colonial Athletic Association) ended a 17-game winning streak by Richmond, the defending national champions of the Football Championship Subdivision.
