NEWARK, N.J. — Patrik Elias and Niclas Bergfors each scored two goals and Martin Brodeur made 22 saves to lead the New Jersey Devils to a 4-1 victory over the struggling Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday night.

Flyers goaltender Brian Boucher cannot stop the puck as the Devils’ Patrik Elias scores a goal during the second period of Saturday’s NHL game in Newark, N.J. The Devils won, 4-1.

Brian Rolston and Travis Zajac each added two assists for the Devils, winners of eight of their last 10 games.
Claude Giroux scored for the Flyers, who have only two wins in their last 12 games.
Bergfors scored a pair of power-play goals as the Devils jumped out to a 3-0 first-period lead. The Swedish rookie put New Jersey on the board at 2:33, splitting the defense to beat Brian Boucher with a shot between the pads.
Bergfors struck again at 12:31, knocking in Travis Zajac’s rebound.
The two goals gave Bergfors 11 for the season, second among rookies behind John Tavares of the Islanders.
PITTSBURGH — Evgeni Malkin scored a power-play goal 37 seconds into overtime to give Pittsburgh a victory.
Seven seconds after Florida’s Jordan Leopold was whistled for holding, Sergei Gonchar set up Malkin for a one-timer from the high slot. It was the first goal in six games for Malkin, the reigning NHL scoring champion who also had an assist.
Pascal Dupuis and Ruslan Fedotenko also scored for Pittsburgh, which has won all three games against the Panthers this season in overtime or a shootout by 3-2 scores. The Penguins are 8-2-1 in their last 11 games.
UNIONDALE, N.Y. — Frans Nielsen scored 24 seconds into overtime to give New York a victory over Boston, snapping the Islanders’ losing streak at three games.
Matt Moulson had a goal and an assist for the Islanders (12-13-7), Rob Schremp scored his first NHL goal, and Kyle Okposo had two assists. The Bruins (16-9-6) had won two straight and were 8-1-1 in their previous 10.
NEW YORK — Tough guy Patrick Kaleta scored twice, including the tiebreaking goal in the second period, and Buffalo shook off an uncharacteristic rough beginning by Ryan Miller in a victory over the Rangers.
Kaleta, known more for his fists than offensive touch, scored from in-close in the first and then converted a short-handed breakaway in the second to give the Sabres a 3-2 lead. He entered with 10 goals in 124 NHL games, but pushed his season total to a career-best five with his first two-goal game.
COLUMBUS, Ohio — Dan Sexton, Bobby Ryan and Corey Perry scored goals and Jonas Hiller stopped 35 shots to power Anaheim past Columbus.
It was Hiller’s first win since Nov. 19 and ended a personal three-game losing skid.
ATLANTA — Ilya Kovalchuk and Atlanta needed overtime to finally solve Montreal’s penalty kill, as Kovalchuk’s goal from the left circle in the extra period beat the Canadiens.
OTTAWA — Alex Kovalev scored three times, including the 400th of his career, to help Ottawa beat Carolina.
With the score tied 2-2 late in the third, Kovalev took a shot on an Ottawa power play that deflected off the skate of Hurricanes defenceman Jay Harrison and past Manny Legace. Kovalev added an empty-net goal in the final minute.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Todd Bertuzzi scored in regulation and overtime for the second straight night, giving Detroit a victory.
Bertuzzi forced a turnover by Nashville’s David Legwand and beat goalie Pekka Rinne to the glove side on a breakaway 24 seconds into the extra session. On Friday night, Bertuzzi scored in regulation and overtime in Detroit’s 3-2 home win over Anaheim.
TORONTO — Matt Stajan had two goals and an assist to help Toronto beat Washington, giving the Maple Leafs three straight wins at home for the first time since January 2008.
GLENDALE, Ariz. — Radim Vrbata and Robert Lang scored, and the Phoenix Coyotes beat Western Conference-leading San Jose.
