Pittston rallies to beat DelVal

HUGHESTOWN – Desiree Spindler led a second-half comeback as Pittston Area posted its first win of the season by upsetting Delaware Valley 5-2 Tuesday in Wyoming Valley Conference Division B girls soccer.

Kelly Krevey assisted four goals for Pittston Area (1-7), which scored five times in the second half.

Kelly Cappello scored twice for Delaware Valley (3-2-1), which led 1-0 at halftime.

Julie Hubbard scored one goal and assisted another as Abington avenged a one-goal loss to Coughlin earlier in the season.

Hubbard, a Penn State recruit who missed the first matchup, assisted Meghan Lenahan in the 10th minute. She scored about 17 minutes later off an assist from Katie Hock.

Emma Black had the Comets’ final goal off an assist from Kat Fox.

Both teams are 4-3 in Division A.

Keeper Becca Stull came up with an impressive 10-save effort to earn the Black Knights a scoreless tie with the Buckhorns after two overtimes.

Wallenpaupack held Lake-Lehman to just one shot, which was stopped by Heather Michael.

Kelcie Hromisin and Rebecca Lipski scored two goals apiece to pace undefeated Valley West.

Lipski also assisted two scores.

Hanover Area averted a shutout when Krista Colorusso scored on a direct kick with 17 seconds to play.
