Trojans defeat Seminary

NANTICOKE – Gabrielle Malishchak scored twice and picked up the game-winner as part of a three-goal rally in the second half as Nanticoke defeated Wyoming Seminary 4-2 Wednesday to pick up its first win in Division A of Wyoming Valley Conference girls soccer.

Kati Nearhouse also had a pair of goals for the Trojans, while Sammi Littleford added two assists. Becca Dinelli made 11 saves in goal.

Nour Hasan picked up both goals for the Blue Knights, with Kelsey Kolojejchick assisting on both.

Ivy Nulton scored one goal and assisted another as Coughlin moved into third place in Division A.

Olivia Spagnola assisted Nulton late in the first half. Nulton then assisted Jen Perry with less than seven minutes to play.

Keeper Jessica Cleary made 11 saves to post the shutout.

Crestwood outshot Coughlin 20-11 and had a 5-0 corner kick advantage.

Neither team was able to find the back of the net in a very physical game. Berwick outshot Holy Redeemer 12-7 and held a 4-2 corner kick advantage.

Keeper Sarah Wilczynski made seven saves for Berwick while Redeemer’s Christina Flaherty stopped five shots.

Lauren Cassel and Gina Boccia teamed up to score four goals and Jillian Aldefer added two more for Wallenpaupack.

Marisa Ferenchick gave Pittston Area an early 1-0 lead. Kelly Krevey added the other Patriot score.
