Wilkes undefeated at Buckeye Duals

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Wilkes University wrestling team went undefeated at the Buckeye Duals at Ohio State University on Sunday.

Wilkes scored victories over NCAA Division II Ashland (28-18), Mount Union (27-9), Mount St. Joseph (30-13) and Ohio Northern (24-19).

Scoring victories for the Colonels against Ashland were Ryan Wilson (133), James Histed (157), Ben Marich (165), Zach Pizarro (197) and Drew Feldman (heavyweight).

Against Mount Union, Wilson, Histed, Marich, Frank Heffernan (174), Jesse Villella (184), Pizarro and Feldman record victories.

Against Mount St. Joseph’s, Wilkes got victories from Anthony Dattolo (141), Scott Mantua (133). Dustin Stough (165), Marich, Heffernan and Rich Pellegrini (197).

Against Ohio Northern, Wilkes got wins from Mantua, A.J. Fisher (133), Kris Krawchuk (141), Nathan White (149) and Stough.

King’s winless at tourney

The King’s College wrestling team dropped its first two matches by two points each before going 0-3 at the Buckeye Duals.

King’s dropped its first match 19-17 to Ohio Northern before falling to Mount St. Joseph 22-20 in its second contest. In their final dual of the event, the Monarchs were defeated 32-9 by Mount Union.

Monarch junior standout Mike Reilly, ranked seventh nationally at 184-pounds, went 3-0 on the day, upping his season mark to 11-0 with a 6-1 decision, a 16-0 technical fall and a pin in just 0:32.

Anthony Dietrick (133) and Jerry Robbins (165) both went 2-1 while Mike Tabasco, Frankie Davis, Chris Rash, Frank Marinucci, and Brendan Dwyer were each single-winners for the Monarchs.

Women’s Basketball

Ferrum College 66, King’s 61

The King’s College women’s basketball team fell behind by 12 points and the half, and despite a second-half rally, were unable to make a complete comeback in the third-place game at the Marymount Tip-Off Classic in Arlington, Va.

With the loss, King’s fell to 1-3 on the year while Ferrum improved to 2-1.

Brittany Muscatell led King’s with 11 points, six rebounds and three steals, while Katlin Michaels followed with nine points, seven rebounds, and five assists.

Brittney Bullock paced Ferrum with 20 points.

Misericordia 86, Penn College 50

The Misericordia University women’s basketball team placed five players in double figures to pick up their first win of the season.

Jesse Robinson led the Cougars with 15 points and Caitlin Sweeney added 14.
