Wyoming Valley West (2-5) at Berwick (6-1)

7 p.m. Friday

The Coaches: WVW’s Pat Keating (71-28, 9th year); Berwick’s Frank Sheptock (15-5, 2nd year)

Last Meeting: Valley West 48-24 in 2016

All-Time Series: Berwick leads 24-17

Quick Fact: Valley West lost 10 in a row to Berwick from 1987-1996.

Scouting WVW: The Spartans played one of their best games in a 38-7 win over Abington Heights, rushing for 362 and surrendering just two on the ground. RB Sean Mikovitch had a career day, gaining 212 yards and scoring three times. However, running room could be scant vs. Berwick.

Scouting Berwick: Berwick posted its second shutout, blanking Pittston Area 36-0. QB Jared Marshman played for the first time after missing the first six games with an injury. He threw three TDs. The defense allowed 27 rushing yards and only Selinsgrove has reached has century mark.

What To Expect: Berwick in a game tighter than records would indicate.

Crestwood (4-3) at Hanover Area (0-7)

7 p.m. Friday

The Coaches: Crestwood’s Greg Myers (79-69, 13th year); Hanover Area’s Mike McCree (6-21, 3rd year)

Last Meeting: Crestwood 28-20 in 2016

All-Time Series: Hanover Area leads 20-9

Quick Fact: Hanover Area won the first three meetings by shutout in 1968, 1971 and 1972.

Scouting Crestwood: The Comets jumped out quickly in a 42-18 win vs. Tunkhannock, although the defense gave up over 400 yards. RB Pat Rother had 165 yards as Crestwood posted 100-yard rushers for the first time in consecutive games. QB Garrett Swank has five TD throws in the last two games.

Scouting Hanover Area: Special teams gave up two return touchdowns in a 55-22 loss to Northwest. The Hawkeyes have allowed over 50 points in their last two games and 40 or more five times. RB David Fedorczyk was a bright spot, rushing for a career-high 224 yards. The defense has issues vs. the run.

What To Expect: Crestwood to locked up a D2-4A playoff spot.

Donegal (2-4) at Hazleton Area (4-3)

7 p.m. Friday

The Coaches: Donegal’s Jeff Polites (99-103, 20th year); Hazleton Area’s Mike Brennan (125-88, 16th year)

Last Meeting: Hazleton Area 20-14 in 2016

All-Time Series: Hazleton Area leads 1-0

Quick Fact: Last year’s game was the first time Donegal played a WVC team.

Scouting Donegal: The Indians’ only wins have come against opponents a combined 1-11. They run the ball for the most part, with RBs Nick Ketner (9.1 ypc, 8 TDs) and Cameron Ellis (8.3 ypc, 4 TDs) the main guys. The defense gives up a lot of point, but has been pretty good getting to the quarterback with 18 sacks.

Scouting Hazleton Area: Hazleton Area had a watershed victory, stopping a powerful Scranton offense in a 34-8 victory. It could be a sign the Cougars have turned the corner in Brennan’s fourth year. RB Adrian Otero finally had a breakout game with 101 yards. QB Sparky Wolk and WR David Smith continue to florish.

What To Expect: Hazleton Area by a few TDs.

Tunkhannock (1-6) at Meyers (4-3)

7 p.m. Friday

The Coaches: Tunkhannock’s Jan Cechak (28-101-2, 13th year); Meyers’ Jeff Labatch (16-13, 3rd year)

Last Meeting: Meyers 24-13 in 2016

All-Time Series: Tied 6-6

Quick Fact: Tunkhannock won the first meeting 27-6 in 1982

Scouting Tunkhannock: Tunkhannock made a run at a big deficit vs. Crestwood only to give up two more big plays and fall 42-18. The Tigers put up some nice numbers – RBs Garrett Hopkins (149) and Logan Cywinski (103) both went over 100 yards – but surrendering five TDs of 20 yards or more negated the effort.

Scouting Meyers: Since the second half of the Nanticoke game, something has been amiss with the offense over the last 14 quarters. Of course, the competition was tough in the last two, but the offense output has taken a nosedive. Nine turnovers in the last two games isn’t helping. The Mohawks need to regroup to have a shot at the D2-3A playoffs.

What To Expect: Meyers in a high-scoring game.

GAR (0-7) at Northwest (4-3)

7 p.m. Friday

The Coaches: GAR’s Paul Wiedlich Jr. (51-36, 8th year); Northwest’s Lon Hazlet (102-98, 19th year)

Last Meeting: Northwest 20-17 in 2016

All-Time Series: GAR leads 9-6

Quick Fact: The 2014 and 2015 games went to overtime.

Scouting GAR: The struggles continued in a 44-7 loss to Wyoming Area. Most of the Grenadiers’ 82 yards came late against Wyoming Area backups. They committed four turnovers and have 20 this season. They have been held to a lone touchdown in five games and haven’t score more than two in a contest.

Scouting Northwest: The Rangers have been in playoff mode the past two weeks, and it’s their only hope of catching Lackawanna Trail for a D2-A playoff spot. They can’t let up and didn’t in a 55-22 win vs. Hanover Area. Brandon Hardiman returned a kick and punt for touchdowns as Northwest iced the game by halftime.

What To Expect: Northwest to win its fourth in a row.

Nanticoke (3-4) at Pittston Area (3-4)

7 p.m. Friday

The Coaches: Nanticoke’s Ron Bruza (30-48, 8th year); Pittston Area’s Nick Barbieri (3-4, 1st year)

Last Meeting: Pittston Area 28-27 in 2016

All-Time Series: Pittston Area leads 13-10

Quick Fact: Pittston Area’s victory in 1982 was via forfeit due to a Nanticoke teachers strike.

Scouting Nanticoke: A fourth consecutive loss has left Nanticoke’s D2-3A playoff hopes teetering. Oddly, run-happy Lake-Lehman used the passing game to pull away for a 42-21 victory. Nanticoke didn’t help itself with a season-high four turnovers while rushing for a season-low 91 yards. Need to regroup quickly.

Scouting Pittston Area: The Patriots couldn’t do anything in a 36-0 loss to Berwick, but Berwick’s defense has been doing this to everyone. Despite having one of their better seasons in recent year, it shows there is still plenty of work to do. The passing game should be able to get back on track vs. Nanticoke.

What To Expect: Pittston Area to reach four wins for the first time since 2009.

Dallas (5-2) at Wyoming Area (3-4)

7 p.m. Friday

The Coaches: Dallas’ Rich Mannello (14-16, 3rd year); Wyoming Area’s Randy Spencer (52-53, 10th year)

Last Meeting: Wyoming Area 13-12 in the 2016 D2-4A quarterfinals

All-Time Series: Wyoming Area leads 24-16

Quick Fact: Wyoming Area defeated Dallas 42-10 during the 10-6 regular season.

Scouting Dallas: The defense gave up one TD in a 21-20 win vs. Wallenpaupack. The other scores were via interception returns. The Mountaineers used two fourth-quarter touchdowns to take the lead. The RB duo of Lenny Kelley and Danny Meuser was strong. The defense picked off three passes and has 11 interceptions this season.

Scouting Wyoming Area: Wyoming Area got its offense going the last two weeks, albeit against two winless foes. Nonetheless, it was a chance to iron out some issues that could have been the reason for three three-point losses. A big differences are more skill guys are getting involved and the line play as progressed.

What To Expect: A low-scoring game with Dallas having a slight edge.

Holy Redeemer (1-6) at Lake-Lehman (5-2)

7 p.m. Friday

The Coaches: Redeemer’s Dwayne Downing (26-40, 7th year); Lehman’s Jerry Gilsky (55-31, 8th year)

Last Meeting: Lehman 38-3 in 2016

All-Time Series: Lehman leads 10-0

Quick Fact: The teams played every year since Redeemer was formed in 2007.

Scouting Redeemer: After a promising open-season win, Redeemer has fallen back into the rut it has every year. The defense surrendered over 300 yards rushing in a 54-7 loss to Athens and with run-oriented Lehman up, that number will likely be the same. While the run offense has improved, it’s still far from adequate.

Scouting Lehman: The biggest things about the 42-21 victory over Nanticoke is that QB Nate O’Donnell threw three TD passes. Everyone knows Lehman’s credo is to run the ball. The Black Knights did that as well with RB Matt Kurtz getting 121 yards. Trey Borger and Zach Kojadinovich also over 100-yard games this season.

What To Expect: Lehman has too many runners for Redeemer to stop.

Williamsport (5-2) at Coughlin (4-3)

7 p.m. Saturday

The Coaches: Williamsport’s Chuck Crews (35-37, 7th year); Coughlin’s Ciro Cinti (70-59, 12th year)

Last Meeting: Williamsport 49-28 in 2016

All-Time Series: Williamsport leads 29-21

Quick Fact: The teams first played in 1900 with Williamsport winning 11-0.

Scouting Williamsport: Despite the record, the wheels were wobbly the past few games and finally came off in a 55-17 loss to unbeaten Delaware Valley. The running game managed just eight yards. The defense surrendered nearly 500 total. The Millionaires need to regroup or will be facing a quick playoff exit.

Scouting Coughlin: The 35-7 win vs. Meyers was a blue-collar win as the Crusaders passed just once and used the running of RB Jake Cole to control the flow of the game. The line was a sore spot early, but is coming on. DL Jervone Young and Rasheed Canada did some nice things on defense, while DB Vincent Todd had a pick-6.

What To Expect: Williamsport to bounce back.
