Phillip Byriel erupted for 15 of his game-high 22 points in the second half Saturday as MMI Prep edged Marian Catholic, 56-55 in a high school boys basketball game at MMI.

The teams were tied 26-26 at halftime, but Byriel scored eight points in the Preppers’ 15-point third quarter to take a one-point lead. Both teams scored 15 points in the fourth quarter, with Byriel hitting his final seven points and Marcus Kossick converting six of eight foul shots for MMI.

Kossick finished with 12 points and Matt Marchetti added 14 to the victory.

Tyler Fritz led the Colts with 20 points, while Chris Ritsick added 16 and Noah Stauffer finished with 15.

Lake-Lehman 46,

Lackawanna Trail 39

Don Thompson scored 15 points, leading the Black Knights to victory in the consolation game of the Cal King Memorial Basketball Tournament.

C.J. Cercone added 12 points in the victory and was named to the all-tournament team.

Griffin Holmes led Trail with 11 points.

Central Columbia 37

Nick Ganter poured in 16 of his game-high 18 points during the middle quarters and Jeremy Callahan popped three 3-point goals in the opening quarter to get the Blue Knights off to a strong start.

Callahan’s shooting helped Sem build a 10-point lead after the first eight minutes Ganter helped keep it at 40-30 entering the fourth quarter.

Callahan finished with 13 points in the victory and Dimitri Gnall added 10 points for Sem.

Delaware Valley 60,

Tunkhannock 55

Blake Gearhart’s 16 points led four Warriors in double figures and Delaware Valley rallied back from a 47-30 deficit with eight minutes remaining by scoring 30 points in the final quarter to overcome a game-high 18-point performance by Tunkhannock’s Sean Harder.

Jackson Shafer hit three 3-pointers and scored 10 points in the fourth quarter, while Gearhart hit nine in the last period.

Tyler Faux added 16 points in the loss for the Tigers, while Evan Turner went for 11.

Zach Klapack, Grant Berrios and Shafer all finished with 12 points in Delaware Valley’s balanced scoring attack.

Wyoming Area 65, Carbondale 34

Sam Greenfield got the Warriors off to a strong start, scoring 16 of his game-high 20 points in the first half as Wyoming Area coasted to victory.

Dylan Melberger scored all 12 of his points on four 3-point goals in the victory.

Jeff Katchmara hit four 3-pointers to lead Carbondale with 12 points.

Nanticoke Area 49

Tom Piscotty scored 18 points and Desmond Cannon added 13 and the Hawkeyes held on to edge the Trojans.

Trahjan Krupinski scored a game-high 25 points for Nanticoke Area.
