COLLEGE FOOTBALL

Huskies knocked out of NCAA tourney

The Bloomsburg University football team finished sixth in the final Super Region One poll of the year and was bumped from a spot in the NCAA Division II playoff on the earned access rule.

The Huskies, who finished 8-3, were replaced in the tournament by Fayetteville (NC) State from the CIAA conference. According to NCAA rules if a team finished in the top eight of the rankings, but its conference was not represented in the top six in the final poll, the seventh or eighth place team would replace the sixth place team.

In this case, Fayetteville, which finished seventh, will take the Huskies spot in the upcoming playoffs. Fayetteville will play third-seeded California (PA) on Saturday in an opening-round game.

West Liberty was ranked first in the final Super Region One followed by Shippensburg, California, East Stroudsburg, Edinboro, Bloomsburg and Fayetteville.

Agassi says he has no regrets about book

Andre Agassi tells The Associated Press his book is part of his atonement for saying and doing things he now wishes he hadn’t.

In a telephone interview, Agassi says he spent years “angry and disappointed” at himself, that he “can’t live with that anymore,” and has no regrets about making any of the revelations in his memoir.

Agassi writes about various things he previously hid from the public — using crystal meth, failing a drug test, his use of a hairpiece. The eight-time Grand Slam champion tells the AP some lies were a result of “fear.”

In the book, he’s also critical of Pete Sampras and Michael Chang, says he hated tennis and describes his fear of his father. Agassi tells the AP his father refused to read the book, which comes out today.
