Prep edges Seminary to capture district crown

District 2 tennis saved the best for last.

After two weeks of tournament play in which each singles and doubles title was decided in straight sets then five team matches that ended in 3-0 scores, the last local event of the season provided the suspense that had been missing.

The team of Mara Silvon-Emily Messett recovered to defeat Sheena Syal-Emma Spajh, 3-6, 6-2, 6-2 in the last match to be decided Thursday, lifting Scranton Prep to a 3-2 victory over Wyoming Seminary for the District 2 Class 2A championship.
