Your vote could help send a cute little Butler Township girl and her family on a week-long cruise and maybe even help win them a new crossover vehicle.
Two-year-old Lauren Schattie, of the Drums section of Butler Township, is a top finalist in ‚??LIVE‚??s Cutest Kid Search‚?Ě on ‚??LIVE! with Kelly and Michael‚?Ě ‚?? the popular syndicated morning talk show aired locally on ABC affiliate WNEP-TV.
‚??She was so excited. Everybody was excited,‚?Ě Lauren‚??s mom, Amy Schattie, said describing the family‚??s reaction to learning the news.
The proud mom spoke with a reporter on her cell phone as she and her husband Anthony were en route to New York City with Lauren and Lauren‚??s brother Landen, 3, in tow.
LIVE‚??s Cutest Kid Search was announced in June, and nearly 100,000 entries were submitted for consideration in two categories: Babies, for little ones between the ages of 6-48 months, and Big Kids, for 4 to 8-year-olds, according to Live! Publicity Coordinator Lauren McTague.
Three finalists in each category were to be flown to New York City to appear on ‚??LIVE‚?Ě today and participate in a professional photo shoot after the show. TV viewers can see the photos on Thursday and cast their votes for their favorites. The winners will be announced on Friday.
The winning ‚??Baby‚?Ě and the winning ‚??Big Kid‚?Ě each will enjoy a seven-day cruise for a family of four aboard Norwegian Cruise Line. And the ‚??Cutest Kid‚?Ě winner with the most overall votes also will receive a fully loaded, brand-new 2013 Dodge Journey for his or her family.
While the show offered to fly them to New York, Amy said she and Anthony thought it would be easier just to drive there. She said the show is putting them up at The Pearl ‚?? a boutique hotel in Times Square ‚?? for the week. Amy, an eye-care technician, said her employer and the employer of her husband, a cable installer, had no problem giving them the week off.
Amy said her mother-in-law, Dolores Schattie, of Hazleton, is a big fan of ‚??Live!‚?Ě and suggested she enter Lauren in the contest. ‚??One day, they called and told us she was a finalist,‚?Ě Amy said.
Amy, who said she‚??s ‚??excited and nervous‚?Ě because ‚??going on TV is kind of nerve racking,‚?Ě described her daughter as ‚??an outgoing, dare-devil kind of girl. She‚??ll try anything. She‚??ll follow everything her brother does.‚?Ě
Amy said this is the first contest she‚??s in which she entered her daughter. As for the future?
‚??I don‚??t know. We‚??ll see how this one goes,‚?Ě she said with a giggle.
See the Schattie family on ‚??Live! with Kelly and Michael‚?Ě today at 9 a.m. on ABC affiliate WNEP-TV. Watch the show on Thursday to cast your vote and again on Friday to find out who is The Cutest Kid.
