City police say Basheir F. Edwards, 19, of Madison Street, entered Peter's Deli and Ice Cream at about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday and walked around the store before he brandished a handgun.
Edwards cocked the firearm and demanded money from the clerk, police said.
Police said Edwards fled the store with cash and three packs of cigarettes.
Plains Township police stopped Edwards driving a vehicle at about 1:30 a.m. Police said the vehicle was stolen including a firearm found inside the car.
Police said the exact amount of cash stolen from Peter's Deli and Ice Cream was recovered.
Edwards was charged with robbery, firearm and related offenses.
Court records indicate Edwards failed to respond to citations of retail theft in April 2012, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness in August 2011, skipping school in February 2010, and retail theft in July 2009.
