Avoca Crime Watch installs signs in town

The Avoca Neighborhood Crime Watch, started on Oct. 4, now has 50 members and continues to grow, said President Jim Brogan. The group recently purchased signs and installed them in various locations throughout the town. The group has been getting five new members each month, he said. Our goal at this time is to register as many residents as possible and work on making Avoca as safe and clean as possible by working with council and the police department, Brogan said. The group plans to incorporate as a non-profit organization. The Crime Watch is operating on donations by members and businesses, and received a $50 check from Joe Colarusso's Café on Main Street.
