WILKES-BARRE – Hazleton Mayor will deliver the keynote address at the Lincoln Day/Meet the Candidates Event to be held at 7 p.m., March 5, at Luzerne County Republican Headquarters, 25 Public Square. The event is open to the public and free of charge. A social hour will follow.

Registered Republicans running for county-level office who are seeking the party endorsement will be allotted time to address the group.

County Republican Chairman Terry Casey expects candidates will take advantage of the opportunity to convey their message to party workers, committee people and voters. Candidates are encouraged to bring their petitions to obtain signatures before the March 10 filing deadline.

Republicans gather annually to honor Abraham Lincoln, the 16th U.S. president, and the first to be elected from the Republican Party. Candidates who plan to address the group are asked to call headquarters at (570) 208-4671.
