at

Wyoming Valley West (1-2)

7 p.m. today

The Coaches: Berwick's George Curry (416-90-5, 43rd year); Valley West's Pat Keating (23-13, 4th year)

Last Meeting: Valley West 46-22 in 2011

All-Time Series: Berwick leads 23-13

Quick Fact: Valley West has won five of the last six meetings.

Scouting Berwick: The Dawgs cruised to their third straight win – and 11th in a row dating back to last season – with a 50-14 victory over Dallas. The C.J. Curry to Jake Pecorelli connection triggered the onslaught with a 54-yard TD pass late in the first half. RB Matt Cashman went over 100 yards for a third consecutive game as Berwick piled up 427 yards of offense.

The defense recorded five sacks, but did give up a 58-yard TD run and an 82-yard touchdown pass. Dallas' other 50 plays yielded just 89 yards.

Scouting Valley West: Last Friday's 34-14 loss to Scranton put the Spartans in a must-win situation the rest of the season if they intend to make the District 2/4-11 Class 4A playoffs. They scored with six seconds left to put a little window dressing on the lopsided loss.

The offense was generally ineffective vs. Scranton, rushing for a season-low 89 yards. The passing game hit on a couple big plays, but for the most part did little. The defense gave up numerous big plays.

What To Expect: The intense rivalry has produced some memorable games. Valley West will need to play much better than last week to make this one of them.
