Michael J. Bilski, Cubmaster of Pack 100, received the Greater Wilkes-Barre Labor Council's George Meany Scouting Award at the Boy Scouts of America Northeast Pennsylvania Council's annual recognition dinner. The award is the AFL-CIO's highest recognition that can be bestowed upon a union member who is actively involved in Boy Scouts of America programs. Each central labor council across America is allowed to present only one award annually. Bilski, Wilkes-Barre, is employed by the City of Wilkes-Barre Fire Department and is the president of the International Association of Firefighters Local 104. The Greater Wilkes-Barre Labor Council selected Bilski as this year's recipient, with approval of the local Boy Scout council, for a combination of his leadership skills and outstanding service rendered to the Boy Scout movement, his union and various community endeavors. At the award ceremony, from left: Walter Klepaski, AFL-CIO community services liaison, Greater W-B Labor Council and United Way Wyoming Valley; Bilski; Ed Harry, president, Greater W-B Labor Council; and Gerald Ephault, president, Boy Scouts of America Northeast Pennsylvania Council.
