Board gives approval to coach list

LEHMAN TWP. – The school board on Monday night made the official appointments for coaches during the 2012-2013 school year.

Head coaches, assistant coaches, assistants and volunteers were named for boys and girls basketball, and wrestling.

The board was split 3-3 over the appointment of volunteer Walter Sorber. Jeffrey Shook was named interim athletic director starting Dec. 1, at a prorated stipend of $10,000.

The board also authorized the development of a proposal for turf removal and installation.

Ed Gustitus asked the board what the district's capital plans are for next year and if it anticipated a raise in taxes.

Superintendent James McGovern said the only project being discussed at this point is the new turf project and it is too soon to know if there would be any increases in taxes.

He said taxes would be discussed in January.

Gustitus was not satisfied with this response and added It's about time we had some fiscal responsibility to the taxpayer.

The next board meeting will be on Dec. 17 at 7 p.m. in the high school library.
