Electric City Baseball & Softball Academy will hold its Annual MLB Scouts Winter Hitting League for boys and girls of all ages with the following instructors: Bobby Felmy (Giants), Matt Hyde (Yankees), Greg Legg (Phillies), Wayne Lydon (Blue Jays), Sean Moran (Cardinals) and Eric Valent (Phillies). Session one is on the following Sundays: Jan 6, 13, 20 and 27 from 3 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. or 4:45 p.m. 6:15 p.m. depending on age. Session two is the following Sundays: Feb. 3, 10, 17 and 24 from 3 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. or 4:45 p.m. 6:15 p.m. depending on age. The league is imited to 40 campers per session. Cost is $150. King's College along with current head coach Gerry Greeley, a former coach in the Baltimore Oriole's organization, will host Gerry Greeley's Player Development Baseball Academy starting Jan. 27 and continuing through Feb. in the new King's College Scandlon Gymnasium Recreation Center. The Academy will offer numerous $10 specialty camps for players in grades 8-12. Misericordia Baseball Winter Academy will run five consecutive Sundays beginning Jan. 13 and will include sessions in hitting, throwing mechanics/pitching, and pitching. Miners Baseball Baseball/Softball Camp will be held today from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m. each day and is open to boys and girls ages 7-14. The cost is $135. Sibling discounts are available. The camp will be held at Sandlot Baseball Academy and will be directed by Joe Ross, Bill Zalweski, Brian Minich and Mike Guy. Miners Baseball Winter Training will be held for boys and girls from ages 7-18 during the months of January through March. The training will be conducted by high school and college coaches from the area. Players will be grouped according to ages. Penn State Baseball Clinic will be conducted by the division one coaching staff from Penn State University's main campus at the Electric City Baseball & Softball Academy for players of all ages on Saturday, Jan 12. from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. and Sunday, Jan. 13 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Cost is $160 and limited to 40 campers. Sandlot High School Baseball Camp for girls and boys ages 7-12 will run for six weeks every Saturday and Sunday beginning Jan. 26 until Mar. 3. Saturdays will run from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m.or 12:15 p.m. until 2:15 p.m. and Sundays 2:15 p.m. until 4:15 p.m. Participants are to pick one session. Sandlot High School Baseball Academy will be hosting its softball camp from Jan. 27 through March 3. Stan Waleski Holiday Basketball Camp will be held at the Greater Pittston YMCA today from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. for boys and girls in grades 2 through 8. The camp stresses skills, fundamentals, team play, competitions, tournaments, awards and fun with all players receiving a camp certificate and t shirt. Dallas Knights of Columbus Free Throw Championship can now be registered for. Participants aged 10-14 are invited to the local level of competition to be held at the Gate of Heaven Gymnasium, 40 Machell Avenue starting at noon, on Saturday, Jan. 12. All boys and girls will compete in their respective age and gender divisions. Participants are required to furnish proof of age and written parental consent. Luzerne Knights of Columbus Free Throw Championship can now be registered for. Participants aged 10-14 must present proof of age and be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Back Mountain Youth Soccer will host an indoor Futsal/Soccer league running from Jan.11 through March for ages U6 to high school age at the Penn State Lehman Campus gym. FIFA futsal ball and rules will be used. Games will be played on weekends. All area intramural and travel teams are welcome. All area individual players seeking a team can sign up online as well. Pocono Seniors Sports and Recreation Group and the Locust Lake Village have set the first Ice Hole Golf Tournament for Jan. 27 at aa a.m. on Pines Lake in Locust Lake Village. This will be a nine-hole, scramble event with teams of four limited to three clubs each. The entry fee is $25.
