Abington Heights Lady Comets softball will hold a fundamental skills clinic at Abington Heights High School today.The clinic will be divided into 2 sessions, and will be for ages 7-14. Session 1 will feature pitching and will he held from 10 a.m. until noon, with registration at 9:30 a.m. Pitchers must supply their own catcher. Session 2 will feature hitting, fielding, throwing, and base running and will be held from 12:30-3:30, with registration at noon. Cost will be $30 for one session or $40 for both. King's College Baseball will help host Jerry Greeley's Player Development Baseball Academy starting Jan. 27 and continuing through February in the new Scandlon Gymnasium Recreation Center. The academy offers numerous $10 specialty camps for players in grades K-12. Wilkes Softball Team will host its 13th annual Mid-Winter Softball Camp on Jan. 27, as well as Feb. 3, 10, 17, and 24. The camp will run from 9 a.m. until noon each day. Pitching will begin at 9 a.m., hitting at 10 a.m. and fielding at 11 a.m. The camp will be held in the University Center on Main (UCOM) building on Main Street and the Marts Center (gym) on Franklin Street. MEETINGS
 
GAR Football Awards Banquet will be held on Sunday, Jan 27 at 1 p.m. in the school cafeteria. Doors will open at noon. There will be a buffet luncheon and a presentation of awards. Cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 7-12. Children age 6 and under get in free.
Meyers Quarterback Club will meet on Jan. 28, at 7 p.m. at Kris Nics bar and restaurant. All parents and alumni are welcomed to attend.
 
REGISTRATIONS/TRYOUTS
 
Ashley/Hanover Girls Fastpitch Softball will hold its first registration for this season today from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Hanover Area High School and Jan. 27 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Luzerne County Community College gym. The cost is $50 plus fundraiser (buyout $35). All girls that reside in Luzerne County from ages 6-16 are eligible. First time registrants must bring a copy of a birth certificate. Back Mountain Little League will have its first registration for baseball and softball players today from 9 a.m. until noon at the Dallas Middle School. All players at least 5 years old prior to May 1 are eligible. Players need to bring proof of address and new players need a birth certificate. Duryea Little League will hold sign-ups for all boys and girls divisions Jan. 28, 29 and 30 from 6-8 p.m. at the Duryea Borough Building. The cost is $55 per player and $75 per family. Cost for Junior and Senior League players are separate, and is $75 per player.
Knights of Columbus Plymouth Council 984 Free Throw Championship will be at West Side Area Vocational Technical School in Pringle on Sunday, Jan 27. The contest is open to boys and girls 10-14 years of age. Proof of age is required. Registration will start at 12:30 p.m. and end at 1 p.m. For more information, call Kevin at 287-1889.
Mountain Top Area Little League Baseball and Softball is offering sign-ups for the upcoming season. Baseball and softball programs for boys and girls ages 6-16 (must turn 6 by April 30) will have sign-ups today from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.; Saturday, Feb. 2, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.; Thursday, Feb.14, from 5:30-7 p.m. All sign-ups are at Crestwood High School. Plains Little League will hold registrations for children ages 4-16 of Plains Township and Laflin Borough for both baseball and softball on Sunday, Jan. 27, Wednesday, Feb. 6 and Wednesday, Feb. 13 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Plains American Legion.Cost is $65 per player for ages 4-12 and $85 per player ages 13-16. Fundraising fees must also be pre-paid at the time of registration. If you are interested in coaching, please provide a letter-of-intent by February 10. Swoyersville Slow Pitch Girls Softball will hold sign-ups today from 9 a.m. to noon, Feb. 5 from 6-8 p.m., Feb. 9 from 9 a.m. to noon. Sign-ups will be held at the softball field in the stand on Tripp St. in Swoyersville. For more information, call Richard Harned at 991-1415.
West Side Little League will hold its first registration for baseball and softball season today from 10 a.m. to noon at the Luzerne Borough Building on Academy Street. Luzerne, Courtdale, Pringle, Edwardsville, Larksville and Plymouth players may register. The cost is $80 for an individual and $125 for a family, which includes fundraiser responsibilities. Registration is for ages 4-12. Three forms of proof of residency are required. New players must provide a copy of their birth certificate. Wyoming Area Baseball will hold registration on Sunday, Jan. 27 in the cafeteria of the Secondary Center from 1-3 p.m. All players from grades 7-12 must register on this day. A representative from Battaglia's Sporting Goods will be present, and spikes and various baseball gear and clothing can be purchased.

North Wilkes-Barre Little League Soup Dinner and Registration will be Sunday, Jan.27 from 12:15-2:15 p.m. at St. Benedict Parish, 155 Austin Ave., Parsons. Come support NWBLL or register for Little League and enjoy lunch with fellow NWBLL parents and players. Various soups/chili, drinks and desserts will be served. Donations will be accepted at the door. This soup dinner is open to everyone. Anyone interested in volunteering or making a donation (soup/soda/water/dessert), contact Mike at 606-9293.
Pocono Seniors Sports and Recreation Group and the Locust Lake Village has set the first Ice Hole Golf Tournament for Jan. 27 at 11a.m. at Pines Lake in Locust Lake Village. This will be a nine-hole, scramble event with teams of four limited to three clubs each. The cost is $25.
