Curry & Powlus Quarterback Skills Camp will be held Saturday, May 25, at Crispin Field in Berwick for boys age 9 through graduating seniors. It will be under the direction of Berwick football coach George Curry and Ron Powlus Sr., a 30-year coaching veteran. Scheduled instructors include Penn State quarterback Stephen Bench, and high school and college coaches. Fee is $50 and includes T-shirt, lunch, refreshments and instructional packet. King's College Baseball, along with Jerry Greeley, head coach of the baseball team, will once again be hosting ‘Jerry Greeley's Player Development Baseball Academy' on Feb. 24 in King's College's Scandlon Gymnasium Recreation Center. The Academy will offer numerous ten dollar specialty camps for players in grades K-to-12. Valley Laxers will hold registration for its inaugural season on the following dates: Wednesday, Feb. 20 at 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., Sunday Feb. 24 at noon to 2:00 p.m., Wednesday Feb. 27 at 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday, March 3 at noon to 2 p.m. The organization be fielding the following teams: U9 (Boys & Girls) ages 6,7,8 born on or after Sept., 1, 2003, U11 (Boys & Girls) ages 9,10,11 born on or after Sept. 1, 2001, U13 (Boys & Girls) ages 11,12,13 born on or after Sept. 1, 1999, U15 (Boys & Girls) ages 12,13,14 born on or after September 1, 1997. League fee is $150. Included in this fee is one to two practices per week, a 10-12 game schedule, two in-season tournaments and a game jersey. Players will be responsible for their own equipment: lacrosse helmet, gloves, pads, stick and mouthpiece. Wyoming Valley West Baseball Booster Club will meet today at 7 p.m. at Keeley's Alehouse and Grille, 199 Division Street Kingston. Parents of all player are encouraged to attend.




Ashley/Hanover Girls Fast-pitch Softball will have registrations at Hanover Memorial School today from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Hanover High School cafeteria. The cost is $50 plus fundraiser (buyout $35). All girls that reside in Luzerne County ages 6 to 16 are eligible. First time registrants must bring a copy of a birth certificate. Back Mountain Little League will be holding their FINAL registration for baseball and softball players Monday, Mar. 4, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Daddow-Isaacs American Legion located on Route 415 in Dallas. Greater Pittston Stoners Youth Soccer registration dates are Thursday, Feb. 21 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday, March 5 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Thursday, March 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. for all players U10 and above. Knights of Columbus Basketball Free Throw Championship will be held Feb. 23 at 4 p.m. for boys and girls ages 10 to 14. The event is sponsored by the Knights of Columbus Pittston Council #372 and will be held at St. Joseph Oblates gymnasium on Route 315 in Laflin. Winners progress through local, district and state competitions. International champions are announced by the Knights of Columbus headquarters based on scores from the state-level competitions. Participants will compete in their respective age groups. Participants are required to furnish proof of age and written parental consent to compete. Wyoming Valley Chapter of Credit Unions is holding its 27th annual Golf Outing and Buffet on Friday, June 7. Format is Captain and Crew with a 10 a.m. shotgun start. This year's event will feature prizes in four flights with a special award to the tournament champion. All donations are appreciated. Registration is $95 per person and includes cart, green fees and prizes. Registration is $110 after May 7. All registrations received before May 7 will receive a free raffle ticket.
