This sharp shinned hawk was spotted by Elizabeth W. Smith in her backyard located in Fairview Township around on a Monday afternoon on Dec. 31, 2012. Smith said red-tailed hawks are common in her backyard, but the distinctive call of the sharp-shinned indicated she had a new visitor.
