WILKES-BARRE – A city man was charged Friday with possessing child pornography after investigators traced information from a hard drive to his former apartment at Lincoln Heights.

Roland Arthur Laflamme, 60, of Parkview Circle, was arraigned by District Judge Martin Kane on 10 counts of possession of child pornography and a single count of criminal use of communication facility. He was jailed at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility for lack of $10,000 bail.

According to the criminal complaint:

A Kingston resident allegedly discovered images of children engaged in sex acts on a hard drive on Dec. 22. The resident collects unused and old computer parts from various locations that he pieces together for computers he donates to needy families.

Kingston police transferred the hard drive to the state police Northeast Computer Crime Lab in Hanover Township.

A forensic analysis of the hard drive allegedly uncovered images of child pornography, pictures and online transactions of billing, shipping and email accounts.

Transaction records were traced to Laflamme, who resided at the Lincoln Heights high-rise for about five years. Pictures of Laflamme's apartment were found on the hard drive.

Laflamme told investigators that he purchased the hard drive from an unknown man for $5 and a six-pack of beer. He said he discovered the child pornography images on the hard drive and forgot to delete the pictures, according to the complaint.

Laflamme allegedly claimed he downloaded adult pornography and might have saved images of child pornography.

After he moved out of Lincoln Heights, Laflamme told investigators, he stored his possessions at a storage site in Wilkes-Barre Township. Laflamme said he did not know what happened to his belongings after he was unable to pay the storage expense.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled on Feb. 7.
