Dallas girls finish 2nd in state cross country meet, Rome finishes 3rd

Rome, a favorite to win the race, finished with a time of 19:14, 14 seconds behind winner Adair Gennocro of St. Marys Area High School.
Rome's sister Ally, a freshman at Dallas, finished in 18th place with a time of 19:51.
Their scores helped the Dallas girls take home second place in the overall competition with 94 points, behind winners Palmyra, who scored 91 points.
At the state cross country meet the team with the lowest score wins.
Holy Redeemer High School, Wilkes-Barre, finished third in the overall competition with a score of 121 points. They were helped by three seniors who won medals.
Marissa Durako finished fourth with a time of 19:21, Rachel Sowinski finished fifth with a time of 19:24 and Cassandra Gill finished ninth with a time of 19:48.
Tunkhannock freshman Maggie Toczko finished 22nd with a time of 19:57.
In the boys meet, the highest local finisher Kieran Sutton, a senior from Lake-Lehman High School who finished fifth in the 2A meet with a time of 16:30.
