(AP) Denmark's Royal Theater says it has canceled a play about Amy Winehouse after the Danish copyright agency withdrew permission to use the late singer's music.
It was not immediately clear why the Koda agency canceled the permit to use the music in the production that was to open Jan. 30 in a 220-seat theater in central Copenhagen. The agency did not return calls after the theater's announcement on Monday.
The play Amy was based on interviews, concerts, Winehouse's letters and newspaper articles. It was written by a group of 11 Danish playwrights and depicts her life and relationship with drugs and alcohol.
The Grammy-winning British soul singer, known for her beehive hairdo, died from alcohol poisoning in July last year at the age of 27.
