Luzerne County coroner John Corcoran ruled a double fatal shooting in Newport Township Monday a murder suicide.

Corcoran said Alinda Krason, 40, was shot to death by Florencio Gomez, 50, inside their home at 47 Coal St. in Glen Lyon. Gomez then turned the gun on himself.

The couple had a history of domestic violence, according to court records. On March 6, Gomez was charged with simple assault, terroristic threats, false imprisonment and other offenses after Krason reported he had held a knife to her throat and threatened to kill her, according to an arrest affidavit.

The case was dismissed at a preliminary hearing on March 16. Court records do not say why the case was dismissed.
