HARRISBURG – The Board of Game Commissioners Tuesday elected new officers during its annual reorganization for 2010.

Game Commissioner James "Jay" Delaney Jr., of Wilkes-Barre, was elected president.

First appointed to a full eight-year term on the board in 2007, Delaney was elected vice president in 2009. He also was elected to serve as board secretary in 2008.

An avid hunter and conservationist for nearly 32 years, Delaney is Wilkes-Barre’s fire chief.

Delaney was nominated by Gov. Ed Rendell and approved by the state Senate to represent District 7, which includes Carbon, Luzerne, Lackawanna, Monroe, Pike, Susquehanna, Wayne and Wyoming counties and his term expires in 2015.

Board members receive no salary, but are reimbursed for expenses to attend Game Commission quarterly meetings and other functions, the commission said.
