Drums resident completes Pennsylvania Forest Stewards Volunteer ProgramÔ??s training

Jo Robbins, Drums, was one of 26 volunteers who completed the Pennsylvania Forest Stewards Volunteer Program's training in October after participating in two weekend workshops on forest stewardship at Camp Krislund in Centre County. Robbins was trained to promote forest stewardship in his community. To become a volunteer, he completed more than 40 hours of classroom and field training in forest and wildlife management, ecology, biodiversity, silviculture, erosion control, communication and other subjects related to stewardship. Pennsylvania's program is administered through the USDA Forest Service and is directed by the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, Bureau of Forestry, in cooperation with other government and private resource agencies, including Penn State's Department of Ecosystem Science and Management, Renewable Natural Resources Extension.
