Last Modified: February 19. 2013 4:16PM
Assistant Fire Chief Tom Makar said the fire was reported at around 4:11 a.m. The blaze apparently started in some building materials that were on a floor.
Makar said the fire was quickly contained, but several businesses, including the Hardware Bar and Dunkin Donuts, sustained smoke damage.
Sherelle Booker, a manager at Dunkin Donuts, said employees in doughnut shop reported the fire after noticing smoke was filling the store at around 4 a.m.
??We smelled smoke and went outside and saw flames coming from the bar,? she said.
Dunkin Donuts sustained slight smoke damage. It was able to reopen at around 8 a.m. after being cleared by a city health inspector, she said.
The owner of the Hardware bar could not immediately be reached for comment.
