Geisinger Health System high bidder for former Scranton school

Matthew Van Stone, a health system spokesman, said Danville-based Geisinger will demolish the building soon and use the cleared land as a staging area when work will begin this spring as part of the $80 million expansion project at nearby Geisinger Community Medical Center. The work includes 13 operating suites, a new ICU, and medical office space.
Van Stone said that once the work is complete Geisinger will assess the need of that .77 acres of land and determine what to do with it.
