KINGSTON TWP.: The Kingston Township Recreation Commission is collecting non-perishable food items and monetary donations for the Back Mountain Food Pantries. A collection box will be in the lobby of the administration building until Dec. 21.


KINGSTON TWP.: The Back Mountain Police Association is collecting gently used or new coats, hats and gloves. A drop-off container will be located in the Kingston Township administration building until Dec. 14.


KINGSTON TWP.: The Kingston Township Recreation Commission is conducting its annual Holiday House Contest for residents of Kingston Township. Nominations will be accepted until noon on Dec. 14. Judging will take place on Dec. 16. There will be prizes for first, second and third place. Winners will be notified by Dec. 21 and will be announced in the Dec. 21 newsletter and Facebook status entry. Residents are encouraged to enter their house or nominate a fellow resident's home. Interested residents should notify the Kingston Township administration office at 696-3809 or email info@kingstontownship.com. Include the address of the nominee and, if possible, the name and phone number or preferable contact information. Winners from 2011 are asked not to participate this year to allow other residents a chance to compete.


LEHMAN TWP.: Penn State Wilkes-Barre recently honored 80 students who received scholarships for the 2012-2013 school year at the annual Scholarship Dinner held at Appletree Terrace. The school awarded 260 students with $530,000 in scholarships this year. Scholarship donors attended the dinner and students were given the opportunity to mingle with them and thank them for their sponsorships. Amy Scafella, a senior business major and Struthers Family Trustee Scholar recipient, addressed the group on behalf of all the scholarship awardees. Guest speaker was Richard K. Struthers, '77, donor and member of the Advisory Board.
