DUPONT: Dupont Borough is holding its children's Christmas party from 1-3 p.m. on Dec. 15 at the VFW on Main Street. Children must register for the party by Friday.

FRANKLIN TWP.: The Franklin Township Volunteer Fire Company, 329 Orange Road, is hosting its annual children's Christmas party on Dec. 16. Santa will arrive by fire truck after a tour of the neighborhood. He and Mrs. Claus will be at the fire hall at 2 p.m. Children will receive treats and light refreshments will be served. There will also be face painting and crafts. Cameras are encouraged. For more information call 333-5970.

HARVEYS LAKE: The Harveys Lake Borough Homecoming Committee and Lakeside Skillet are sponsoring a Santa Christmas party from 1-3 p.m. on Dec. 15 at the Lakeside Skillet, Pole 280. The party is for children ages birth to 12 years old. There will be refreshments and prizes. Reservations are due by Dec. 10. For more information call Marsha at 639-5603 or Mayor Hogan at 793-5187.

HAZLETON: The Greater Hazleton Health Alliance (Hazleton General Hospital, Hazleton Health and Wellness Center and Alliance Medical Group) is collecting non-perishable food items to assist Catholic Social Services in replenishing its food pantry.

All non-perishable items are needed especially peanut butter, canned tuna, canned chicken, pasta, bagged rice and canned soup. Items in glass jars will not be accepted. Items can be dropped off until Dec. 13 at the following locations: Hilltop Café at the Hazleton General Hospital, Alliance Medical Group Women's and Children's Center and the fitness center at the Hazleton Health and Wellness Center.

HUGHESTOWN: The Hughestown Lions Club will meet at 7 tonight at the Hughestown Hose Company. President Steve Golya will preside. Items on the agenda include the annual Peace Poster Contest, decorating St. Joseph's Home and the annual visit and gift presentation to St. Joseph's residents.

KINGSTON: Core Chiropractic and Wellness Center, 180 United Penn Plaza, is holding a winter coat drive. Clean, gently used coats and jackets can be dropped off at the center from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Dec. 19. All coats will be given to St. Vincent DePaul Kitchen for distribution to local people in need.

PLAINS TWP.: The Plains Lions Club is hosting its annual holiday fruit basket drive on Dec. 16. Club members will be delivering fruit baskets to all shut-ins of the township during the day. More information can be obtained from any Plains Lions Club member.

PLYMOUTH: The Past Matrons and Past Patrons Association of Wyoming Valley will meet at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday at Happy Pizza, 40 W. Main St. President Marge Swanek will preside. New officers will be installed at a business meeting after dinner. New President Jan Jacobus from Mayflower 107 and officers for 2012-2013 will be installed. A program will take place after the meeting. Jane Thomas and Harmony Chapter 58 are the hosts. There will be no meeting in January.

WILKES-BARRE: Ken Wallace's Valley Chevrolet is partnering with Toys for Tots to bring holiday cheer to Northeastern Pennsylvania's underprivileged children. Toys for Tots is a charitable organization supported by the U.S. Marines Reserve.

Residents can drop off new, unwrapped toys in collection boxes in the Valley Chevrolet showroom, 601 Kidder St., Wilkes-Barre, and the Valley Chevrolet service complex, 221 Conyngham Ave., Wilkes-Barre, until Dec. 20. Each donation goes directly to the local branch of the Toys for Tots program which distributes the toys to the less fortunate children of the area.

YATESVILLE: The Yatesville Auxiliary is hosting a children's Christmas party at 2 p.m. on Dec. 16 at the Borough Building. All Yatesville Borough residents 12 years of age and younger are invited to attend. Santa Claus will attend and give gifts. Refreshments will be served.

Reservations are required and can be made by calling 654-7585 or 655-8088 by Dec. 13.
