A grand jury in Houston has dismissed a misdemeanor resisting arrest charge against Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson after hearing from the four-time Pro Bowler and other witnesses.

Derek Hollingsworth, one of Peterson's attorneys, said Tuesday the case stemming from Peterson's July 7 arrest outside a night club is expected to be formally dropped on Wednesday. Peterson was due in court for a pretrial hearing on Thursday before Judge Natalie Fleming.

Hollingsworth said Peterson testified before the grand jury on Tuesday and found no probable cause for prosecutors to continue.

It's what should've happened from the get-go, Hollingsworth said. I'm glad it happened now.

Peterson, 27, was in Houston just two days after rushing for 171 yards in the Vikings' 34-24 win over Detroit.

Chicago Bears cornerback Charles Tillman's wife gave birth to the couple's fourth child. They were expecting a girl.

Tillman thanked his Twitter followers for their thoughts and prayers and added Wife and baby are doing great in a post Tuesday.

Tillman's status for Sunday's game against Houston was in question after he told a Chicago radio station he might have to miss it. He later said he expected to be available and wound up playing in a loss to Houston.

Ryan Tannehill's best play of late has been a tackle, which for a quarterback is not good.

Tannehill's teammates were still laughing Tuesday about his touchdown-saving, open-field stop of linebacker Zach Brown, by far the best moment for the Miami Dolphins in a 37-3 loss to Tennessee. Miami tight end Anthony Fasano suggested the coaches should consider putting Tannehill on kick coverage.

That won't happen.

Former Seahawks tight end Jerramy Stevens appeared in court Tuesday, a day after being arrested on suspicion of domestic violence assault following a disturbance at a home in Kirkland, Wash., police said.

A Kirkland Municipal Court judge released him shortly after, saying there was no evidence connecting Stevens to any assault, according to news reports.

News reports, citing court and police records, said U.S. women's soccer team goalkeeper Hope Solo appeared in the courtroom Tuesday afternoon.

Stevens and Solo applied for a marriage license last Thursday.
