ASHLEY: The time of the morning worship service on Dec. 23 at Centenary United Methodist Church, 24 N. Main St., has been changed. The service will be conducted at 9 a.m. instead of 10. The change is for this date only. The Rev. Tom Salsgiver, district superintendant of the Lewisburg District and the church's superintendant, will be guest preacher.


NANTICOKE: The Berean Lighthouse Church, 2 West Green St., Nanticoke, will present its Christmas program at 7 p.m. Dec. 23. Songs for the program are taken from the Here We Go A Caroling book for carolers. Other specials will be included with a time of fellowship to follow. Everyone is welcome.


WHITE HAVEN: The White Haven Community Choir, comprised of 45 adult and child members from several churches in the White Haven area, performed its annual Christmas Cantata, Searching for the King, at Mountainview Community Church. The performance was arranged and directed by Joyce Hergert, choir director.


MetroCast Channel 10 will be airing the performance at 1 and 9 p.m. today; 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Sunday; 8 a.m. and 6 p.m., Monday; 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. Tuesday; noon and 10 p.m. Wednesday; and 9 a.m. and 5 pm. Thursday. The broadcast includes the entire performance including the adult and children's choir.


WILKES-BARRE: The Children's Sunday School Chorus of Welsh Bethel Baptist Church, 290 Parrish St., will hold a special Christmas program at the 10 a.m. worship service on Sunday. The program will open with a reading by Alaina Page. The chorus will perform What Child is This? with Justin Kachurak on guitar. Jacob Roberts will perform a piano solo and Rayna Roberts will narrate a special reading. The closing piece by the chorus will be Which Way?


Vivian Jayne and Al Compton provide the music leadership. Members of the chorus are Abby Jayne, Hannah Fox, Justin Kachurak, Ryan Kachurak, Anthony Giovinazzo, Brooklyn Giovinazzo, Jake Zola, Shaila Isaac and Chance Hall.


Following the church service, a Sunday School Christmas party will be held with Santa (Mayor Bill Davis) providing gifts to the youngsters.


Margaret Ann Jayne is the Sunday School superintendent and teachers are Ruth Evans, Mindy Kachurak, Amy Roberts and Donna Fox. For further information, call the church office at 822-3372.


WILKES-BARRE: Unity of NEPA: A Spiritual Center, 140 S. Grant St., will conduct a candle-lighting service at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

WILKES-BARRE: The Wyoming Valley Orthodox Choir will present a Christmas concert at 3 p.m. Sunday at Holy Resurrection Orthodox Cathedral, 591 N. Main St.


The concert will feature liturgical and various Christmas carols of the Eastern European, Ukrainian and Russian tradition.


This year, the miracle-working icon of the Theotokos will be available for veneration from 2:30 until the beginning of the concert as well as after. A free-will offering will be taken with proceeds going to St. Tikhon's Monastery in South Canaan, Pa.


Light refreshments will be served in the church parlors following the concert.
