BACK MOUNTAIN AREA: The Back Mountain churches will hold their annual ecumenical soup and scripture during the five Mondays of Lent. The following schedule has been announced: Feb. 18, St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Dallas; Feb. 25, Lehman-Idetown United Methodist Church, Lehman Township; March 4, Maple Grove United Methodist Church, Pikes Creek; March 11, Huntsville United Methodist Church, Huntsville; March 18, Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Lake Silkworth.


Services begin at 6 p.m. with prayer and soup. At 6:45 p.m., there will be a reflection on the upcoming Sunday scripture or the scripture choice of the pastor. Closing prayer will be at 8 p.m.



HANOVER TWP.: Gorzkie Zale, a traditional Polish bitter lamentations, will be held at 3 p.m. Feb. 24 at Exaltation of the Holy Cross Church, 420 Main Road, Buttonwood, Hanover Township.


The Rev. Kevin Mulhern is pastor. A light reception will follow in the church hall. For further information or directions, call 823-6242.


NANTICOKE: The Nanticoke Ministerial Ecumenical Lenten services will begin every Wednesday during Lent on the following dates:



Feb. 20: Primitive Methodist Church, Church and Prospect streets, Nanticoke, with the Rev. Kyle Gildner. Info: 735-2726.



Feb. 27: St. John's Lutheran Church, 231 East State St., Nanticoke, with the Rev. D. North. Info: 735-8531.



March 6: English Baptist Church, 58 South Prospect St., Nanticoke, with the Rev. K. Turley. Info: 735-2599.



March 13: St. Faustina Church, 267 E. Hanover St., Nanticoke, with the Rev. Nash. Info: 735-4833.



March 20: Nanticoke First United Methodist Church, 267 E. Main St., Nanticoke, with the Rev. A. McDonnell. Info: 693-1855.


All services begin at noon.


Good Friday services will be from noon to 3 p.m. at Nanticoke First Methodist Church.


PLYMOUTH: In preparation for the Lenten season, All Saints Parish, Willow Street, will offer confessions from 5:30-7 p.m. on Mondays during Lent beginning Feb. 18.


The church is offering these confessions in conjunction with the Diocese of Scranton's outreach, The Light is On for You. The program highlights the importance of the sacrament of reconciliation.


The Monday evening confessions are in addition to normal Saturday confessions at 3 p.m. or by appointment.


The Rev. Robert Kelleher is pastor.
