Injuries at concert bring suit

WILKES-BARRE – A Hazleton woman has filed a lawsuit in county court against the record label and production company of a national recording artist after suffering injuries during an August 2010 concert at a Plains Township nightclub.

Lauren Wackley filed the suit recently through her attorney, Julia Munley, of Munley, Munley & Cartwright P.C., against Flo Rida's record label, Poe Boy Music Group LLC, LTP Enterprises, and Strong Arm Touring, Travel, Productions and Management, all based in Florida.

Flo Rida, whose real name is Tramar Dillar, has recorded popular songs that include "Low," "In the Ayer" and "Roll."

Wackley alleges in the lawsuit she was injured after being pushed off a stage and suffered injuries to her foot. Wackley requests in excess of $300,000 in damages due to negligence on behalf of all the defendants involved.

Attorneys for the Strong Arm entities did not return messages seeking comment Thursday.

According to the lawsuit, Flo Rida was performing a concert at the Woodlands Inn & Resort along Highway 315 in Plains Township on Aug. 27, 2010.

The Strong Arm entities were responsible for security services and security personnel at the concert, the suit says.

Wackley says in the suit that Flo Rida pulled her up onto the stage with several other audience members, when "moshing" began on the stage.

Wackley alleges she was standing next to a person who she believes was a security person or assistant when he pushed her and other audience members off the stage.

Wackley suffered injuries to her left foot, including fractures and bruising, according to the suit. Because of those injuries, Wackley said, she had to undergo surgery and medical treatment, and might be forced to undergo additional treatment in the future.

The suit says Wackley has been unable to go about her daily routines, cannot enjoy the pleasures of life, and has lost wages and earnings.

The suit alleges the defendants named in the suit acted negligently in a number of aspects, including failing to have adequate and appropriate security in place, failing to train personnel, allowing audience members to be pulled up on stage, failing to prevent injuries by using reasonable care and allowing personnel to push audience members off the stage when invited onto the stage by Flo Rida, among other reasons.
