KINGSTON TWP. – The township board of supervisors are accepting letters of interest from residents to fill two vacancies.
A seat on the five-member board of supervisors is open due to the death of Gary R. Mathers on Dec. 22.
Mathers, a Republican, was elected to the board in November 2011 and sworn in to begin a four-year term in January 2012. The person selected to fill the seat will serve the remaining three years of the unexpired term.
The board holds its regular meetings at 7:30 p.m. on the second Wednesday of each month; its public work sessions are held at 7 p.m. on the Monday before the regular meetings.
The board also is accepting applications for a vacancy on the five-member planning commission. The appointed position is non-paying.
The commission serves in an advisory capacity to the board of supervisors. The commission reviews preliminary and final subdivision and land development plans and provides written recommendations for approval. Planning commission meetings are held on the first Tuesday of each month. Basic knowledge of land use planning and/or zoning laws is helpful, but not required.
Letters of interest will be accepted until noon Jan. 18. Letters can be mailed to:
